Spring Walk along the Shore

Last Saturday we had our annual walk along the shore and were very pleased to be joined by some new friends.  We started by Southampton Sailing Club and walked up past the Rolling Mills. This was a very busy area as the Southampton Amateur Rowing Club were having their regatta. It was great to see so many people enjoying the area especially the energetic rowers out on the water.

We walked past up to the stream and spent some time talking to a photographer who told us that he had recently seen a deer around the Pitch and Putt Course (which appears to have been reopened) and showed us photos of buzzards he had taken.  The stream across the shore is a beautiful spot and we took some time to enjoy it.  Walking on, we passed Weston Yacht Club and were pleased to see club members were busy enjoying their sailing as well. It was definitely a busy day on the shore!

Then we walked up through the Conkerfield, having a look from the field at Netley Castle.  There is always so much to see and in particular the Conkerfield boasts a beautiful cooper beech near the path. Then, as is our tradition, we walked a ciruit around Netley Abbey, always a magnificent and uplifting place to be, and then walked all the way back.

It had been a great day and showed just how much Weston Shore has to offer!
