On a beautiful, sun blessed summer Friday the Friends of Weston Shore were fortunate to have the help of a cheerful and enthusiastic troop of volunteers from HSBC Bank to support us in our never ending battle to keep the shore as clear as we can of litter and rubbish. They soon got to work and were accompanied by four stalwarts from Friends of Weston Shore, Councillor Warwick Payne, Sarah, Georgie and Adam. It was warm work in the hot sun and within a hour or so a large part of the shore had been scoured and cleared of all sorts of plastic straws, lollipop wrappers, drink cans and so forth.
We are really grateful to the good crew at HSBC for coming along to help out with our campaign to keep Weston Shore as clean as we can. The shore is now much cleaner that it was after the winter storms disgorged so much rubbish onto the beach and its thank to volunteers such as these that there has been a marked improvement.
Thanks also go to Southampton City Council for all their help and support. Without them we would not be able to host these sorts of events.
There’s another chance for everyone to get involved in giving litter the heave ho. On Sunday 3rd August, the Friends of Weston Shore are holding our annual Big Beach Clean Up starting at 10am. If you would like to get involved please contact us or turn up on the day!
