On a recent weekend in May, members of the Friends of Weston Shore were pleased to be invited to run a stall at the Spring Fayre at Sholing Valleys in Southampton. Sholing Valleys is a beautiful area in Southampton which last year was awarded the rank of Local Nature Reserve in recognition of its importance as a natural habitat.
It was a wonderful day and we were able to talk to lots of local people about Weston Shore and the work the group is doing. We also mentioned our Big Beach Clean Up on Sunday 4th August and got a lot of positive interest in the event. Lots of cakes were sold in a bid to help raise some funds for the Friends of Weston Shore.
We met other groups including from Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery and the Jubilee Sailing Trust. Sholing Valleys is well worth a visit and their well stocked centre has lots to offer. They run regular conservation days for those who want to get really involved. To find out more visit their website : http://www.sholingvalleys.hampshire.org.uk/.
