If like us you’re keen to do what you can to help our local area look really beautiful, there are two great events to get you out in the fresh air.
- Our friends at Sholing Valleys at Station Road, Sholing, Southampton are running one of their fantastic conservation days on Sunday 24th February 2013 between 10.30am to 3pm. Turn up and help. All equipment is provided but it’s a good idea to wear good outdoor clothing and dress warm for the time of year too. You can help with the conservation work they do in increasing the bio-diversity of the area or litter picking to keep it looking pristine.
- On the same day, Sunday 24th February 2013, the Netley Abbey Beach Cleaning Volunteer Group are going to be out on the shore at Netley Abbey to clean it up. Again, all equipment will be provided but it will be essential to dress for the season and also being out on the shore! Welly boots and gloves are a must. They are doing some great things keeping the shore clean and are looking for more helpers and for people to get involved. The group is also keenly interested in the issue of coastal erosion. The meeting point is the bottom of Beach Lane in Netley Abbey, off from Victoria Road and next to the cricket field and the start time is 2pm.
Two local groups that share our passion for helping our local environment. I’m hoping to go along to the Sholing Valleys group on Sunday morning so let’s hope it stays dry!
