We’ve been brainstorming lots of great ideas for the Friends of Weston Shore recently. In particular we are very pleased to announce that our annual clean up of the shore will be on Sunday 19th August between 10am and 1pm. We are very excited about another day for everyone to get involved in making the shore look really great. Not only is this important for everyone’s enjoyment of the area, it is also a help in recognising the scientific and environmental importance of Weston Shore which is of course a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest).
We’re looking forward to working alongside our friends at Southampton City Council to make the day a success and hope to see new friends from Sholing Valleys and the Friends of Westwood there as well to help clear up even more litter than usual.
Friends of Weston Shore are currently looking into stickers and certificates to award children who are taking part (who must of course be accompanied by an adult). We are also designing new posters to advertise the day and hope to have help from young artists at the local schools in this regard. A really cool logo would be useful too – if anyone has any ideas let us know.
So let’s hope for some really good weather on the day and if you can, come down, say hello and join in!
